There are purpose-driven exercises that can help with pain control and modulation, relaxation and sleep induction as well as assisting with longer sleep duration. One such exercise is very appropriately: Pain Management.

Pain Management ($19.95 value) Use the mind/body connection to lower the volume of chronic pain signals. The exercise teaches a simple method one can use during waking moments to reduce the perception of pain. These are called encodings. The encodings for this exercise are: “Ten and 55515.”
From the exercise transcript: “From this moment on whenever you desire to relax and remove all harmful tension and emotion from your mind and body all you need do is think of the number ten. Inhale deeply and exhale as if you were blowing out a candle. When you do this, your body will be so equalized as to over those things that might hinder or interrupt it from being and giving its best mental, emotional and physical self.”
From the exercise transcript: “To turn down physical pain signals in your body, first look with your closed eyes at that part of your body, which is the source of the pain signal. Second, as you look repeat in your mind the number: ‘55515.’ When you do these two things the pain signals will reduce more and more until they are no longer important.”
It also helps with inducing sleep, by giving the suggestion that you can help yourself return to sleep at anytime by counting to 20. Additionally, it also includes an affirmation and suggests saying to the body regularly: “Healing energy. Healing.”
This exercise is well guided. At the conclusion of many of the exercises you will be brought back to an alert state. Pain Management does not do this, therefore, it is ideal for helping one relax, fall asleep and/or alleviate pain, restlessness or anxiety for longer periods of time.

INCORPORATING SOUND MEDICINE INTO YOUR PRACTICE
Equipment Needs: There are numerous ways to play the CDs and/or MP3 files. It can be as simple as playing it on a CD player. Most people like to download the CD and/or the MP3 file to an iPod, MP3 player, tablet, computer or their smart phone.
It is also recommended to use headphones to listen to the exercises, especially in the beginning except for the sleep CDs/MP3 files. The headphones do not have to be expensive or sophisicated. Earbuds can work just as well. Some people like to use noise cancelling headsets to help block out external noise. If someone is using the technology for sleep enhancement or when they are lying down, they might prefer to either purchase a headband with earbuds or make their own headband with earbuds. Pillows with earbuds are also available to help direct the sound to the right and left ear appropriately. There are others who will put speakers on either side of their bed or head for the same impact.
If you are downloading a file to iTunes or similar media player, you need to make sure you have the correct settings to maintain the integrity of the file.
